  • [This paper provides examples of how influential philosophers affect the debate and legislative process in Australia, USA and UK concerning euthanasia and assisted suicide. One of these is Mary Warnock, a member of the British House of Lords, whom we have invited to write for us in the present issue of Omsorg (“Care”). Warnock thinks not just that we should have a right to die, but also that there is such a thing as a duty to die. Her position is analysed and explained in the light of utilitarianism and rights theories.]
